Interviewed in person

Every member sits for a ninety-minute intake interview with the matchmaker who will carry their file. Nobody enters the roster from a form, an app or a referral alone.

Identity and record verified

Government photo identification, employment or business ownership, marital status and a criminal-record search are completed before a first introduction is arranged. Members are re-screened at renewal.

Nothing published

There is no profile page, no gallery and no search index. Your file is visible to your matchmaker and to the practice principal, and to no one else — including other members.

The method

Five stages, one matchmaker

The same sequence for every member since [year]. Durations below are typical of the practice, not promises, and no stage is skipped for anyone.

    Forty-five minutes with a matchmaker. You describe who you are looking for; we tell you honestly whether we can help and, if we cannot, who might.

    A short written application confirming you are eighteen or over and legally free to marry. We do not accept everyone who applies, and we tell the others plainly.

    The long conversation, in person wherever possible, followed by identity, employment and criminal-record verification carried out by a licensed reporting agency.

Criminal-record screening disclosure

Claret Room conducts criminal background screening on every accepted member, carried out by a licensed third-party consumer reporting agency before any first introduction is arranged.

The statutory caveats below are shown here, on the membership and sign-up pages, and in full on the Privacy & Safety page, as the law in several states requires of any service that screens.
